Dev Blog #32 - INDUSTRIAL PHASE 2
Hello again, Survivors! We hope you’ve been making the most of the Industrial features introduced in the previous update of RUST Console Edition.
We’re ready to add more features to your survival experience with the upcoming update. Read below to know what’s in store for you!
MARKETPLACE
The Marketplace is a new feature at the Bandit Camp and Outpost monuments, enabling you to order items from Vending Machines for drone delivery. Simply visit one of the two locations, select an open terminal, choose any Vending Machine on the map, and place your order. It’s that easy!
The Marketplace was added to RUST Console Edition to make trading safer and more popular, therefore Drones are indestructible and cannot be seen or interfered with by other players.
A few key points to remember when using the Marketplace:
Each order has a delivery fee of 20 Scrap, and you'll need to wait for the drone to return with your items.
Drone delivery time can vary, depending on the distance it needs to travel.
Collect your items within 10 minutes, or the terminal becomes public and anyone can claim your purchase.
Drones can't access Vending Machines in closed areas, so choose wisely!
EASY MODE (SOFTCORE)
Introducing Easy Mode, a new game mode in RUST Console Edition designed for a more relaxed experience without affecting standard PvP on vanilla servers.
Easy Mode is aimed at casual players, and here’s what to expect:
Upon dying, half of your inventory will remain on your dead body.
After respawning, you can reclaim the remaining half of your lost inventory at a reclaim terminal in the Marketplace at Bandit Camp or Outpost. Items in the reclaim terminal will de-spawn after 2 actual hours.
You have the option to spawn in Bandit Camp or Outposts. Unless flagged as hostile.
You can view but not loot wounded players.
For Community Server owners, make sure to select the gamemode from the dropdown in the “Player” section of the GPortal server page to activate this game mode. Keep in mind that changing game mode will trigger a full wipe and a server restart.
HARD MODE (HARDCORE)
Introducing Hard Mode, a new game mode in RUST Console Edition aimed at the veterans. This mode will be devoid of the comforts of the vanilla servers such as Safezones, teams, and the map, providing a more relentless and hardcore survival experience. The standard PvP on the usual Vanilla servers will remain unaffected.
Here’s what you can expect from the Hard Mode servers:
Added:
Limit of 5 sleeping bags and beds
Local chat only for messages and gestures (100m range)
Removed:
Compass
Crawling when wounded
Global Message
Team System
Map
Safe zones
Scientists and Turrets at the Outpost & Bandit Camp
Mission NPCs
3 of each weekly and monthly Official Hard Mode servers will launch with this update, with ongoing improvements to follow.
For Community Server owners, make sure to select the gamemode from the dropdown in the “Player” section of the GPortal server page to activate this game mode. Keep in mind that changing game mode will trigger a full wipe and a server restart.
NEW MUSHROOM WORLD MODELS
Mushrooms collected around the island now feature accurate models when dropped from the inventory.
NEW SEED SACK WORLD MODELS
Seeds for all seed producing vegetation now feature enhanced models when dropped, making them easier for players to identify.
NEW GUN AUDIO
The audio for all guns in the game has been updated.
HALLOWEEN 2024
It’s spooky season in RUST Console Edition! Prepare yourself for a spine-chilling adventure with all-new Halloween content lurking in the shadows 👻
HALLOWEEN RIFTS
Dare to enter the dark portals scattered across the island, transporting you to eerie dungeons where you’ll battle terrifying Scarecrow NPCs. Defeat them... if you dare!
MAP-ROAMING SCARECROWS
The island has been overrun by haunted scarecrows, wandering the land and ready to attack any survivor they encounter. Slay these sinister figures to gather their cursed loot - but be quick, they won’t go down easy!
VAMPIRE STAKE
Wield the power of the night! This powerful weapon can take down a scarecrow in a single strike, causing them to drop extra loot. You can find stakes hidden inside the small candy bags crafted during the event - if you’re lucky!
NEW WORLD ASSETS FOR PICKUP-ABLE RESOURCES
The island around you has fallen under the Halloween spell! Wood, stone, and ore pickups have been transformed into spooky versions to keep you in the haunting mood as you gather resources.
CANDY HUNT EVENT
The Halloween Candy Hunt has crept back from the grave, and this time it’s all treats and no tricks! Get ready to scavenge for Candies across the island once the event begins. The Candy Hunt event will haunt your server twice per RUST day. The event runs for a limited time on official servers from October 17th, 2024 to November 7th, 2024 (UK time), and can also be summoned by Community Server owners around the same dates.
When the event is triggered, a 15-second countdown will appear. As soon as the timer hits zero, the hunt begins! An overlay will reveal the top 10 Candy Hunters and the time left before the event vanishes. Each haunting round lasts a brief 3 minutes—so grab as many glowing Candies as you can before the darkness claims them.
The Candies will spawn within your field of vision and shimmer with an eerie glow, making them easy to spot. When the event ends, the top 5 hunters will be rewarded with loot based on their performance. The prizes are wickedly delightful:
🏆 1st Place: 3 Medium Lootbags
🥈 2nd Place: 1 Medium Lootbag
🥉 3rd Place: 5 Small Lootbags
👻 4th Place: 3 Small Lootbags
🎃 5th Place: 1 Small Lootbag
Ready your Sickles and Pitchforks - This Halloween hunt is one you won’t want to miss!
CRAFTABLE HALLOWEEN ITEMS
These special items are only available while the Halloween Event is active and will appear as default crafting recipes - no research required, and no blueprints can be conjured. You can either craft them yourself or find them in Loot Bags scattered throughout the event. Hurry, though! Once the event ends, these spooky treasures will disappear back into the shadows.
HALLOWEEN WEAPONS
Sickle, Butcher Knife and Pitchfork.
HALLOWEEN ITEMS
Spider Webs, Coffin, Graveyard Fence, Gravestone and Wooden Cross.
That’s a wrap for this month’s Dev Blog! We hope you have a frightfully good time with the upcoming update and all the spine-chilling Halloween events. Until then, stay spooky and we’ll see you on the other side of Spooktober! 👻
