DEVASTATION UNLEASHED!

Survivors, the time is almost here! Devastation Unleashed is the first of many exciting content updates coming to Rust Console Edition. This update brings the following features to the full game: the Tech Tree, bigger maps (3KM), new building blocks, Gestures, adjustments to gun handling, aim assist, and a host of quality of life improvements and bug fixes!

In this blog post we will go through the major features which will be added to the game.  Quality of life improvements and bug fixes will be detailed when the patch notes are released later this week. So let’s start by talking about one of the most requested features, the Tech Tree.

The Tech Tree fundamentally changes the way players progress in Rust Console Edition. No longer will players have to rely on spending their scrap on a random tiered blueprint at the workbench - players can now unlock the items they need the most. Collect scrap from around the map and construct a workbench in order to access the Tier 1 Tech Tree. From here, players can use scrap to unlock different branches of items depending on your playstyle!

Players are still able to research items from the Research Table as they could before, so there are now multiple paths of progression. The aim of adding Tech Trees is to bring the game more in line with the core Rust experience by adding more depth to the system we had up until this point. This will give everyone more variety over the ways they can play the game! With the addition of the Tech Tree a Blueprint wipe will be required for all the servers.

Last month we added the Trainyard, Water Treatment Plan and Supermarket to the game and now we are expanding the maps even further with 3KM map seeds on some weekly and monthly servers. These maps give players more free space to roam around the island, making it easier for smaller groups of players to find the perfect place to build a base. Hopefully this addition will make the game more exciting for everyone!

New building blocks are also being added with this update to expand our community base building creativity! The Triangle Roofs, Triangle Ladder Hatch, Triangle Floor Frame, Spiral Staircase, Triangle Spiral Staircase, Ramp and Steps are all part of the new building blocks players are able to construct. Some of them can really help you design that “perfect” base by making it even more efficient and harder to raid!

Also coming with Devastation Unleashed is the new ‘Gestures’ feature, which allows players to perform various emotes by opening the radial menu and cycling through the different options to better express themselves and communicate with others in game. If you see someone at a distance try ‘waving’, and see what happens...

There’s also a bunch of quality of life improvements and bug fixes coming with this patch as well as new gun handling and aim assist adjustments. The patch notes for Devastation Unleashed will give you all the details on what the changes are, so keep an eye on our website!

We hope you are as excited as we are for this first of many content updates. We will keep working to bring more new and exciting features to the game. Meanwhile prepare yourself for this new wipe and enjoy the new features that will be added on the 25th of November!

Have a great week survivors. 🐻
