Dev Blog #35
Hello again Survivors, we hope you’ve had a wonderful first month of 2025! We’re ready to add more features to your survival experience with the upcoming update. Read below to know what’s in store for you! Stick around to the end of the Dev Blog for an Important Announcement.
NEW VEHICLE CONTROLS
We’re excited to introduce improvements to the control system for boats and submarines, enhancing the gameplay experience for all players. Below is an overview of the changes you can expect:
ANALOG STICK-BASED ACCELERATION
The degree of acceleration corresponds to how far the analog stick is tilted. For instance, a slight push forward will result in slower acceleration, while a full tilt will maximize speed.
ENHANCED TURNING RADIUS
Turning mechanics have been refined to offer better control. The sharpness of a turn is now directly influenced by the intensity of the analog stick’s tilt. A slight tilt will produce a gentle turn, while a full tilt will result in a sharper turn.
AUTO-ACCELERATION FEATURE
A new auto-acceleration functionality has been added to streamline movement in the forward direction.
To activate: Push the left analog stick fully forward for at least 3 seconds.
To deactivate: Pull the analog stick fully backward to immediately cancel auto-acceleration.
This feature simplifies navigation, particularly during extended journeys.
EXPANDED CONTROL DETECTION AREAS
We’ve improved the controls to extend the detection areas for both forward and reverse movements:
Forward: The expanded detection area provides a larger turning radius, making directional adjustments smoother.
Reverse: Similarly, the extended reverse detection area ensures smoother backward navigation.
When the analog stick is pushed in the opposite direction, the turning radius reverts to its default, allowing for quick directional corrections.
These updates enhance precision, reduce erratic movements, and make navigating aquatic vehicles more intuitive and enjoyable. Whether you’re cruising forward or carefully reversing, the new controls are designed to provide a seamless and responsive experience.
COMBAT LOG 2.0: ENHANCED DESIGN AND NAVIGATION
Introducing Combat Log 2.0, featuring improvements aimed at making the interface more intuitive and user-friendly. These updates focus on improving navigation and readability for all players. Here's what’s new:
DIAGONAL NAVIGATION CONTROLS
Current Issue: Previously, when scrolling through the Combat Log, players were restricted to a single axis of movement. For example, if you started scrolling vertically (up/down), you couldn’t simultaneously scroll horizontally (left/right) until you stopped.
Improvement: This restriction has been removed. Players can now navigate both vertically and horizontally at the same time, using both analog sticks simultaneously. This update provides smoother and more efficient navigation of the Combat Log.
IMPROVED ROW AND COLUMN SPACING
Current Issue: The existing row and column spacing occasionally made it difficult to read individual logs, and the scroll bar would sometimes obscure important details.
Improvement: We’ve adjusted the spacing between rows and columns to improve clarity and ensure all information remains visible. This change makes individual entries easier to read and eliminates issues caused by overlapping elements like the scroll bar.
INVALIDS IMPROVEMENT
Following up from the Invalids Addressal in Dev Blog #31, we’ve implemented adjustments aimed at reducing the occurrence of Invalid Shots in the game. These changes will go live with the latest update.
The adjustments focus on improving the mechanics that caused Invalid Shots, ensuring smoother and more reliable hit detection.
How You Can Help;
If you continue to encounter what you believe to be Invalid Shots:
Record Evidence: Capture video clips that demonstrate the issue.
Include the Combat Log: Make sure the Combat Log is visible in the footage.
Share with Us: Upload your clips to the designated Discord thread for Invalids.
Your contributions are invaluable and will help us fine-tune the system even further. Thank you for your support and patience as we continue to improve the game!
