Pre-Order Beta Patch 1.02 is now live!
Hello everyone, patch 1.02 is now live for Rust Console Edition on both platforms. Below you can see all the improvements that have been made with this new update, as well as get more details on the previous one (1.01).
Rust Console Edition : Pre-Order Beta Patch 1.01-1.02 Patch Notes
The desync/”astral projection”/invisible players bug.
This one has had the team wrapped up for over a week, and is the main reason we’ve not been very active on Discord - it needed a lot of focus to figure out what was going on. This bug was caused by the client thread responsible for updating player positions crashing and burning, due to an error with a particular object that failed to spawn correctly (present in some maps containing quarries). The rest of the game continued as normal but your new position was not being sent to the server. Affected players would be able to sneak around the map, raising invisible hell, and seeing all kinds of strange symptoms.
Transition to new server infrastructure.
A considerable number of bugs you’ve been seeing were caused by server performance issues. We’re currently testing out a new configuration of server hardware to improve things.
Fixed poor performance on Xbox Series consoles.
This was caused by a configuration error with our backwards compatibility mode.
Strafe changes reverted to Closed Beta behaviour.
We’ve reverted some changes to the way strafing works that we had been testing internally. The new behaviour was designed so that quick strafing could not be used to a competitive advantage during firefights, but the clunky feeling of the slower strafe was not well received. Consider it a failed experiment, and we won’t touch it again, we promise.
Auto-sprint fixed.
Some control config changes had broken auto-sprint, but the fix didn’t make it into the original Pre-Order Beta build due to time constraints. This fix is now present.
Fall damage when logged out.
An issue with offline physics processing is the latest in the death by fall damage saga. This particular problem was allowing players to fall under gravity (but without any collision checks) in the brief period where the player had just logged in, but the loading screen had not yet been dismissed.
Cannot place doors.
This bug was specific to a particular region, and was caused by a build process failure.
Missing footstep SFX while wearing shoes.
This bug was specific to a particular region, and was caused by a build process failure.
Missing buildings in harbour.
This bug was caused by our level of detail system failing to render the highest quality level when up close to certain objects.
Missing furnace and SMG skins.
These were simply textures that went missing during a recent refactor of our skinning system. We love that some streamers called them chrome! Maybe we’ll make missing textures a whole new skin set, or is that a bit too much capitalism?
Removed NDA disclaimer and stream blocking on PlayStation.
That’s right, the NDA is lifted! We just forgot to remove the lock, oops. Stream to your heart’s content.
Fixed server list paging, filtering, and searching.
This has been an ongoing job since the last beta, since the search/filter functionality needed moving server-side to work correctly. It’s now ready!
Fixed crash when browsing servers.
This common crash was caused by the logic that pings servers.
Fixed crash when setting a server as a favourite.
This common crash was caused by the logic that pings servers.
Fixed players walking around on the death screen.
An error that caused players to be able to walk around in the background while the death/respawn screen was showing was found and fixed.
