Patch 1.03 will be live soon on some platforms.
Patch 1.03 is almost here, it will take effect on Xbox later today, and on PlayStation it will follow as soon as possible, we will update you once we know more. Meanwhile we would like to take a moment to address the issues affecting some members of our community, from server stability to bugs that affect the way you experience Rust Console Edition and some unexpected crashes. Below you can see some of the most critical changes this patch will bring and how we aim to improve the overall experience of our players with the fixes to come in this patch.
Random 5 second freeze have been fixed;
Team system issues have been fixed;
Ladders are now climbable again;
Players will not miss the rock and torch on spawn;
Spawn point distribution has been improved;
Players missing Deluxe/Ultimate skin packs should have them in the inventory after the patch;
The Invisible skins issue has been fixed;
Multiple crash fixes;
Falling through the Launch Site floor should not happen anymore.
We take Rust Console Edition very seriously as this is one of the biggest projects up to this point, not only in terms of complexity but also in the number of players. So naturally we want to meet everyone's expectations and we will keep working hard to make sure the game reaches its full potential on the consoles. As stated before our main focus is still on performance and stability and even if some players are not getting affected by some of the issues and want to see more content added as soon as possible we need to think of the bigger picture and make sure that everyone who believes in us and supports Rust Console Edition is able to get the best possible gameplay experience. Know that we are getting there and issues like this will eventually be fixed sooner rather than later.
Server stability is also being worked on and our online team aims to improve it as soon as they can, as we keep testing new builds to see what works for the current number of active players and servers we have. To solve server side issues we don’t require a client side update, this means that we can just work on them and implement the fixes like we did yesterday (June 3rd) as soon as we have them ready. Still, taking measures like this requires a great amount of internal rigorous testing as we need to make sure the changes implemented will impact the game in a positive way, even if it goes unnoticed. Sometimes all the servers need is a simple restart but in most cases that will not solve the issues and we need to dig deeper to find the right solution for the problem while we avoid messing up player progression which makes the task for our online team harder.
After patch 1.03 is out we will work on 1.04 to tackle some of the remaining problems and to bring the highly requested skin store. Our plan was to have it in game on day 1 but sometimes things don’t go as expected and we had to remove it to assure everything would work as intended for the most part. The skin store still requires a bit more work and we have a sub team working on it whilst most of the team keeps the focus on improving the performance of the game. As for the prices for the skins and some of the designs we will reveal them soon in another blog post, so players can have a general idea of what the skin store is going to look like and how the skin rotation will work in our version of the game.
We would like to thank you for all the patience and support, thanks to you we managed to uncover issues that were not known or experienced prior to launch, we're grateful to the players for raising them with us, the team is working hard to address these as quickly as possible but as much as we'd like to be able to put these fixes live immediately, they first require rigorous internal testing and reviews with the relevant platforms to ensure they perform as expected.
Once again, thank you for being part of the community and helping us make Rust Console Edition the best game it can possibly be.
