Dev Blog #48
As we kick off this wipe, we are excited to learn how the latest changes are shaping your experience on the island. Recently we rolled out a major update aimed at boosting performance across the board. Now that you have had some time to jump in and explore, we would love to hear your thoughts.
Let’s open this Dev Blog on a high note. Take a moment to complete our quick four question feedback form and tell us how the game is running for you. Your input helps us keep improving and delivering the best possible experience.
Now shifting from the main branch over to the Public Test branch, on March 5 we will be testing our upcoming Quality of Life update. This one focuses on some of the most requested quality of life changes from the community, including removal of side sprinting, adjustments to the holo sight, and a few other improvements we know many of you have been waiting for. Remember, If you own the Deluxe or Ultimate version of Rust Console Edition, you already have access to the Public Test Branch which will allow you to try these updates ahead of time.
We really want to hear what you think about these changes, so make sure to hop onto the staging branch and try them out for yourself. We will be gathering feedback across the board, especially from our staging branch Discord server, so do not forget to share your thoughts with us there.
In case you missed last week’s announcement, our Roadmap is now a lot more locked in, with a clearer look at what we have planned for the first six months of the year. There’s plenty to be excited about, including World 2.0 and all the features that come with it, Public Test branch trials for larger maps, a new DLC, and more.
Make sure you check out the full Roadmap below for all the details.
We noticed some users were curious as to why World 2.0 was split into two different content updates, so we want to take the time to clarify. This is a massive update that reshapes the island and significantly changes the overall gameplay experience. With something this large in scope, there are a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. To make sure everything works as intended and reaches you in the best possible state, we decided to roll it out in two stages.
Splitting it up allows us to keep the process more stable and manageable, both for our team during development and for you once it goes live.
What about Q3 & Q4?
A roadmap for the second part of the year will be available in the upcoming months once world 2.0 is available on the main branch. We will base it on your requests from the latest feedback form, so look forward to that!
Lastly, just a quick reminder that the Nomad DLC is now available in the store. If you have been waiting to grab one of the most iconic Hazmat suits from the PC version, now is your chance.
That wraps up this month’s Dev Blog. We are looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the recent performance improvements and, later this month, on the Quality of Life changes coming to the Public Test branch. As always, your feedback helps shape what comes next.
Enjoy your wipe, and I will see you all on the island!
