Dev Blog #39

Hello Survivors! The game’s about to evolve. This could be the last Dev Blog before the New Gen version of Rust Console Edition drops, so listen up! Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead of the game.

You can now pre-order the game on both Xbox and PlayStation stores. Choose from Base, Deluxe, or Ultimate Editions based on your preference.

Refer to this article for more details - Clarifying the New Gen Upgrade Process.

If you already own Rust Console Edition on Old Gen, you don’t need to buy it again! Your copy carries over.
However, you do have the option to upgrade to the Deluxe/Ultimate edition for a discounted price.

For Disc Owners:

Just like the digital edition, you will be able to download the New Gen version from the platform stores, if you would like to upgrade to the Deluxe/Ultimate edition, you can do so from the platform stores and the upgrade will reflect in-game for you on the day of release.

If you are currently on the Base Edition of the game, you wouldn’t have access to the Public Test Branch, upgrading to Deluxe/Ultimate will get you in the PTB for a very minimal cost. What’s even better is that you will have 7 days early access to the New Gen version of Rust Console Edition, stay ahead of the wipe with this 1 week head start - Early access players will have an extra 7 days in the first wipe making it a total of 1 month + 1 week.

Both Deluxe and Ultimate packs come loaded with some Exclusive Skins which will never be seen in the skin store,
get the edition upgrade and add these to your inventory!

And now…for the final Old Gen update!

As development on the New Gen version of Rust Console Edition continues, our focus remains on delivering the best experience possible for current-gen consoles. While this means we haven’t been able to prepare a large anniversary celebration this year, we still have a small gift to share with the community.

To mark the occasion, we’re releasing a special anniversary skin for all players, completely free.

Available: May 30 – June 27, 2025
Where to claim: PlayStation Store or Xbox Store (depending on your platform)

The 4th Anniversary cake will be live with this update and will be available to use till June 27th, make the most of it!

That wraps up this month’s Dev Blog. Stay connected with us on Twitter and Instagram for the latest updates and behind-the-scenes from Rust Console Edition.

Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you on the Island!
