We have an important update to share regarding the Excavator update, alongside some exciting news about upcoming server improvements and what you can expect over the next few weeks!
Excavator is now planned for release in early 2027, giving us additional time to test, refine, and deliver the best possible experience when the monument arrives on the main branch.
Over the past few months, we've placed a strong focus on improving server stability and overall performance, following your feedback. This has been an important priority for us, and while it has meant dedicating more development time to these improvements, we're confident it's the right approach for the long term health of Rust Console Edition.
With the team also taking some time off during December, we want to make sure Excavator receives the attention it deserves rather than rushing its release ahead of the holiday period. This will also help us avoid introducing issues that we may not be able to address as quickly during that time.
More Server Improvements Coming in November!
In the meantime, we're continuing our work on server performance, with another important improvement coming later this month!
We're preparing an update that addresses several server memory leaks, which we expect to begin testing on PTB in early November. If testing goes as planned, these improvements will make their way to the main branch at the end of November, alongside the monthly wipe.
Our goal is to have these fixes in place for the start of the next wipe, helping to deliver a smoother and more stable experience for everyone. Server performance remains one of our biggest priorities, and we're looking forward to seeing how these latest improvements perform across the live servers.
Excavator Arrives on PTB in December!
While Excavator won't be joining the main branch until early 2027, you won't have to wait until then to experience it!
We're planning to bring the monument to PTB in early December, giving everyone access to explore it, experience its features, and get a first look at what's coming.
The PTB servers will remain at a max population of 200 players, which will give us a great opportunity to gather your feedback, identify anything that needs further attention, and continue polishing the monument ahead of its full release.
Having Excavator available on PTB throughout this period means we can make the most of the additional development time while giving you something new to explore over the holidays!
Looking Ahead at 2027
We'll share more details about Excavator's main branch release schedule early next year, alongside an updated roadmap outlining what's coming to Rust Console Edition. We're currently aiming to share this roadmap around the time Excavator makes its full debut.
We know many of you have been looking forward to this monument, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding. While plans sometimes need to change, our commitment to improving Rust Console Edition remains the same.
