Update for Players on PlayStation.

Hello PlayStation Players,

We’re now able to share an update on the free upgrade for existing PlayStation users.

Our goal has always been to keep things as consistent as possible across platforms, and we’ve been working closely with PlayStation to make that happen.

We’re happy to confirm that players who own Rust Console Edition on PlayStation 4 will be able to claim a free upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version. However, due to platform-specific limitations, the upgrade will only become available on the full release date, June 26.

We explored every option to make it available sooner, but unfortunately this is out of our control and is the earliest possible date players can secure the free upgrade.

For most players, this won’t cause any issues. However, if you own the Deluxe or Ultimate edition as a consequence this means you will unfortunately miss out on the 7-day early access perk, given that the upgrades will go live on June 26th.

Early access will still be available on June 19, to those purchasing the Deluxe or Ultimate edition directly from the PlayStation 5 store, as new purchases do not rely on an upgrade being granted.

To make up for this, we’ll be granting 500 Rust Coins to all Deluxe and Ultimate edition owners on PlayStation who are affected by this situation. Additionally, we’re preparing more PlayStation-only servers for launch on June 26 to give everyone a fresh and smooth start. This is not how we wanted things to work out as we understand how important it is for some players to get early access to the game. We sincerely apologise and hope this offer helps make up for the inconvenience.

One last note: The free upgrade will give you the standard PlayStation 5 version of the game, no matter which edition you originally bought. Any extra content you’re entitled to will be added to your account automatically when you log in to the new Gen version. This includes all the cosmetics and bonuses tied to your original edition on our backend. So, while the store may show the base version after the upgrade, you’ll still have access to all the skins, Rust Coins, and other extras you’re entitled to. Make sure to complete your upgrade and claim your 500 Rust Coins by July 31. 

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We’re incredibly excited to bring this new version of Rust Console Edition to PlayStation later this week. While we know this isn’t the perfect setup for everyone, please rest assured that we've tried all possible means to make the upgrade process as smooth and fair as possible.
